Blogging is a highly talked about topic, but I still find many people around me struggling to get the strategy right.

Most people know what blogging is, but getting through different stages as an expert is where the current information online is lacking.

That’s why I’ve decided to address How to Start Your Blog in 2023 in Pakistan and today!

I won’t be discussing blogging, its importance, potential, and significant ways you can convert it to an earning source. What I’ll be doing is helping you with the process of finding the right niche, setting up your website, and writing content to get it going.

So, let’s start with today’s topic:

How to Start Your Blog in 2023 in Pakistan

Here’s the complete process to start your blog in 2023 in Pakistan:

Selecting your niche

This is the trickiest part where new bloggers are stuck deciphering the gurus’ statement: choose a low-competition niche.

Well, this idea or statement has nothing wrong. When entering a low-competition niche, you’ll have more chances of ranking and even that too quickly.

But what is a low-competition niche as an answer to “How to Start Your Blog in 2023 in Pakistan”?

Many blogging gurus might disagree with my point of view, but I believe any niche can become low competition if we know the exact way to approach it.

So, for the complete beginner, you can start searching on any topic that you find interesting. Also, looking for the list of hobbies on Google or Wikipedia will bring you some ideas to start exploring.

Now just select a random topic, for example, “digital marketing.” And start exploring what it is. If you aren’t familiar with the terms, start exploring the first few websites on Google will tell you some important terms used in the niche. For example, you might come across PPC, SEO, Adwords, and Pay per Click in this scenario.

With a genuine search intent, dig upon these terms just like a newbie. Make sure to use long-term keywords for this purpose (meaning a complete question of 4-5 words) that you might have in mind. Again following the same example, here are sample questions you can start with. “How to find the pay-per-click in an ad campaign”? What should be the PPC value for an ad to be successful? These are just made-up questions to give you an idea.

When you start searching such questions, you won’t only begin developing an understanding of the niche. But also, you’ll find many websites with low DA or forums/irrelevant websites ranking on those websites. When you find a keyword with such a result, you’ve actually come across a low-competition or underserved keyword.

Now you can either continue your search with the blog post section of the low DA website you found or use the same method discussed above to gather around 40-50 long tail keywords. If you find them, you’ve come across a low-competitive angle in a particular niche. So, you are good to start.

If you want to know about the terms like niche, micro-niche, etc., and decide which of these to enter, you might want to look at the blogging guide.

Website Setup

Now, it is time to set up the website. Domain, hosting, and a CMS is essential things you’ll have to get to start the process. Let me simply explain all of these because they often confuse a newbie.

Domain Purchase

It is the name of the website. A domain can be anything from your name to a specific branded word. It has multiple parts. Usually, the name of the website and TLD is something you’ve to choose. For example, in aamirahmer.com, Aamir Ahmer is the domain name I’ve selected, and .com is the TLD. You can buy .pk, .us, .blog, .org, .edu. domain names depending on your location or the purpose of blog creation.

If you can find your desired name with a .com domain, I recommend you choose it. You can change the name or opt for a different TLD if the particular term is unavailable. But before selecting the TLD, remember that using a country-specific one will only rank in a particular country and not in the other geographical locations.

Other important things to consider when naming your website are selecting the best name, where to buy the domain etc. I’ll leave these questions for some other day.

Buying Hosting

When you’ve thought of a domain name, hosting your website is next essential. Hosting is actually an online space where you’ll have to store the files related to your website.

There are multiple hosting options available depending on the online space. Also, the dedication of the complete server or the shared hosting is another decision you’ll have to make. As a newbie, you can rely on shared hosting.

A basic package offered by different resellers is enough to get you started. As your website traffic and requirements grow, you can move to the hosting plans providing more resources. That is always scalable. So you don’t have to worry about it.

Choosing Content Management Software

You can either develop your website through coding or use a Content Management System to create it. What I recommend is using WordPress as an answer to How to Start Your Blog in 2023 in Pakistan. WordPress can be easily customized and updated without requiring hiring a third person for the job.

Also, the customization options are nearly unlimited, and you won’t find anything you can’t do using WordPress provided you know how to do it.

Within WordPress, you’ll have to start with the theme installation. I’ll recommend you go with a responsive, lightweight free one initially. However, there are paid themes available that can offer you a better layout or more functionalities.

An important thing to note here is not to get cracked themes from different free downloadable websites. Such themes can have viruses or additional cookies, which might destroy your entire website or make it vulnerable to attacks in the future.

Installing Plugins

Once you have finalized the theme for your website, now is the time to install plugins. You can consider plugins as tools or applications that provide specific website functionality. It is advised to keep the number of plugins low to maintain a better website speed. But there are some necessary plugins you’ll be required to ensure protection and security and control the SEO settings of your website.

Set up the important Pages

Another task important during the setup stage is the creation of the essential pages. According to the recent Google Update, a website needs to ensure E.E.A.T for better ranking. E.E.A.T. stands for experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. To establish this on your website, you must highlight the aspects like what makes you an authority over the subject, what your experience in the field has made you good enough to write about the topic, do you have the expertise, and why the visitors should trust you.

A carefully designed About Us Page, Contact Us page, Terms & Conditions, and Privacy Policy Pages can help you generate these signals. But these pages don’t have to be a copy-paste of the other similar websites. Instead, they must reflect your experience and expertise, and only then can you expect to get your website ranked.

Conduct Keyword Research

Now when you are nearly ready to bombard your website with content, the next question should be what you should write.

Well, I discussed a bit of keyword research in the niche research section. But here it is as a complete topic.

The process is the same, but now you’ve your niche and the principal terms used here. So, things get a bit easier. I’ll use the same example I’ve used in the niche research section to remain on the same page.

So, now when you pay per click is a term in digital marketing, you can add words like how, when, why, and which before such terms and type them on Google. Google will provide you with all the possibilities that people are searching for.

Here, let me tell you one. Taking “Pay Per Click” as the seed word, type “How Pay Per click” on Google. Now you’ll find long-tail keywords or question that people want to know about how to pay per click. You can open these suggested queries in different tabs and explore the results individually.

Searching for every query will open a list of results for you. Selecting the particular keyword will depend on the fact that there are forum websites or irrelevant results in the list. Also, if you think the ranking websites haven’t covered an angle, you can use that keyword. By finding the list of such keywords, you can decide on the content for at least a month.

Once all your long-tail keywords are covered, you can use the same process to find the medium-tail keywords and continue writing.

Do Off-Page SEO

Lastly, to ensure that your website ranks, building a few relevant links to your pages is important. Well, this can be an ongoing process where you’ll be continuously putting an effort to make your website noticeable on different platforms.

There are a few user-generated content opportunities in the form of big commenting or forum posting. These links were valuable once, but these links have lost their value over time. Another way to get backlinks is to contact similar websites and ask them to publish a guest post for you or add your website link to one of the existing posts.

From do-follow or no follow links, do-follow ones are the most valuable, but you can’t only have all the do-follow links as it will be suspicious for the search engines. To diversify the links, you need no follow links too. So, the user-generated links might not help you rank. But they are still needed to ensure the natural link-building phenomenon.

A pro tip here is to create valuable content that other websites will automatically come and link to your website, providing you with organic links without effort.
